À propos de Michel Grondin,
President
The time when Michel Grondin crafted, sold, and installed his stairs alone seems like a distant memory.
From 1978 to 1988, his art served to create furniture. Pine, oak, ash… he worked all types of wood with an equal pleasure. “Maple is very tough, cherry wood ages beautifully, pine is a soft wood that smells good, and jatoba is a very hard exotic wood that oxidizes with time, giving it an even richer colour. Every wood has its own characteristics, its unique charm”.
In 1988, with the trend of melamine furniture emerging, Michel Grondin could not bring himself to abandon woodworking. He then ventured into staircase construction, a three-dimensional world where heights and lengths fascinated him. The company Escaliers Rive-Sud was born.
Twenty-five years later, ERS has become a thriving company, recognized for the quality of its work. This business now represents a new passion for its founder.
Despite its expansion, Escaliers Rive-Sud has never lost the essence of its beginnings. The love for wood, aesthetics, quality, finishing, and customer satisfaction continue to guide its artisans every day. Concerned with delivering quality work in line with the wishes and expectations of its customers, ERS surrounds itself with seasoned professionals and carefully selects its suppliers. Whether for a generic staircase or a high-end project, the ERS team uses only first-rate wood and finishes. For Escaliers Rive-Sud, each staircase is a work of art that requires extreme precision and great craftsmanship.
