Olivier Grondin, foreman

Preparing ERS for the future

In the early days of his youth, as he watched his father and grandfather use their hands to artfully shape wood like true artisans, Olivier Grondin discovered his love for woodworking and furniture making. As a teenager, after dabbling in it for several years, Olivier started working at Escaliers Rive-Sud, a company founded by his father Michel Grondin. There he gained insight and valuable experience in the manufacturing and installation of wooden staircases and their components (newels, balusters, handrails, stringers, treads, skirt boards, etc.).

When the time came to pick a career, Olivier quite naturally opted for a woodworking and furniture finishing degree in the city of Saint-Hyacinthe. With his DEP degree completed, he officially joins the ERS team in 2010. For the first few years, he learned the ropes of virtually every production position, from woodworking to sanding, as well as installation, painting and shipping. Later on, he chose to take refresher courses in joinery and carpentry to hone his skills and acquire cutting edge knowledge.

Olivier now wants to draw from the collective experience of the ERS team to deepen his understanding of the trade. His goal: to be ready in a few years, along with his brother David, to take over the firm and lead it to the next level!
